We have a new 50″ panasonic plasma with the samsung blu ray player. We have a pioneer reciever with our cable box and blu ray running into it with HDMI’s, and then and HDMI running out into the TV. Any time we go to HDMI 1 using our TV remote, whether we are watching TV or blu ray, the blu ray player turns on automatically. How do we switch it to manual turn-on?

The blu-ray players is responding to the panasonic remote control code. Check the player and TV to see if either allows you to change remote codes. (Probably not, but look through the manuals anyway.)
